Herbert David Denchfield 1919 - 2012 Known as David he was a Spitfire pilot during the Battle of Britain and was shot down over France and made a POW.   He delighted in stating that he must be the only pilot to go and dig up his own aircraft, some pieces of which together with a more comprehensive history are on display at the West Norfolk Aviation Museum. David was very happy to talk about his exploits and, on his visits to the Club, proved to be very entertaining company.
