Branch Information
As mentioned on the “About Us” page, the Wisbech Branch
was the 199th branch, formed worldwide in October 1945, when the
patron of the organisation at that time was H.M King George VI.
October ‘2020’ means we as a branch will be celebrating our 75th anniversary in
existence and to date are still a valued Royal Airforce Association Branch.
This anniversary also falls in the same year as both the ‘VE Day’ & ‘VJ Day’ Anniversary’s
Out of all the branches worldwide, here in the UK we are one of a few privileged to still
have our own actual club, which has been maintained and just re-decorated downstairs
prior to re-opening, following the Covid-19 Lockdown, (At no cost to the RAFA).
Many others are not so fortunate and have to rely on room hire elsewhere.
Ultimately we are all here to achieve the same purpose, providing friendship and welfare
support for serving and ex-serving RAF personnel and their dependents.
Actual celbrations to commemorate this anniversary are at the moment on hold subject
to government advice due to the Covid-19 pandemic
